3-7 Days Prior
Items Fit: Make sure all large items will fit through doorways, hallways, stairs, and elevators at your new location.
Hoisting: Advise your team if any hoisting will need to be performed day of move.
Plan: Have a plan where things go at the second location.
Plants: Stop watering large plants 3 days’ prior your moving day.

2-4 Days Prior
Same Brand: for your boxes. (ex: The Home Depot , Uhual …etc.) makes it easier for the movers to stack the truck.
Box everything: even the miscellaneous items (lamps, printers, computers, candles, toys...etc.)
Label Boxes: where you would like them at the final destination and make sure to indicate valuable or fragile boxes. (ex: glass set, kitchen, master bedroom, garage…etc.
Fill up Boxes: Boxes must be full to prevent any boxes from crushing.

1-2 Days Prior
Disconnect: all appliances. (Washer, dryer, and fridge)
Defrost: clean and dry refrigerator, and freezer.
Organize: your boxes and rest of belongings.
Parking: Make sure you have a parking place for your movers
Appliances: Leave TV's plugged in for the movers to check them before and after the move.

Moving Day
Wake up early: make sure all your items are in order prior to movers arrival
Review: Do a walk through with your movers and indicate any pieces of extraordinary value.
Trust: Let your movers handle the work.
Tip your movers: at the end of the day (optional)

Moving With Pets
Moving with pets can be difficult. Here are some helpful ideas:
Crates: for pets who are crate trained, its a good idea to have your pet spend the night in a crate. This will make your pet more comfortable moving day. Make sure to reward with lots of treats!
Day cares: the day care you normally bring your pet, or a friend can take care of your animal, its a good idea to keep your pets out of the home moving day.
New home: make sure to properly introduce your pet to their new home. Do not be alarmed if appetite has decrease, it is temporarily, and will get better with a little time.

Licensed & Insured: to avoid any conflicts, do some homework on your moving company before hiring. Check your local California moving company out on the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS) look up the transportation carrier.

Items Unable to Transport: make plans for any hazardous chemicals, nail polish and scuba tanks. Other non-allowable items include fertilizer, loaded guns, paint, paint thinner, gasoline, propane tanks, and perishable food
Keep Personal Items Close: The list of items that moving companies are not held accountable for: · Money (cash, checks, foreign currency), Firearms, Stamp/Coin Collections, Medications (optional), Jewelry, Stock/Bonds, Deeds/Titles
